This isn’t the first Thanksgiving Weekend playoff game for the Sentinels. Ironically, it was the first ever trip to the playoffs that saw the Sentinels still playing at the end of November.

It was 8 years ago this weekend that the Sentinels, led by Corey Lynch, waltzed into Fort Meade for a playoff game. That year, we won our first two playoff games to advance to the regional semifinal where the Sentinels lost to a Jamal Cornelius-led squad in a first ever meeting with the Miners. The Sentinels look to raise the Thanksgiving record to 1-1 and advance to the State’s final-four for the first time in school history, as they take on Out-of-Door Academy at Sarasota High School. The Sentinels lost to the Thunder earlier in the season 39-28.

The end of the first quarter ended with a driving Sentinel team that was trailing 21-6 and reeling from the early deficit. By the end of the half, though, a field goal from Andrew Albright gave the Sentinels a 31-28 advantage, which they never relinquished.

The Sentinels held the Victory Christian Storm (9-2) to 3 second half points and advanced to the Region 1B-3 final, 31-38.
